Best Practice No. 8: Provide Ongoing, Online Training

computericonsc1506_x_th_cHaving a training program accessible online. On-site co-op training is great, but what is the back-up plan for new hires after that, or refreshers when co-op numbers are sagging? An online training program that people can take on demand can be helpful. Gatehouse’s Sigler said his organization creates these for their sales people, and he notes that the more localized the training the better. He also notes that Recas is a great resource for online training tools as well.

Best Practice No. 7: Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

Gatehouse Media produces a co-op newsletter every other week. “We will take a sampling of manufacturers who have just released promotions and we will put those logos in the newsletter — click here to get details of the promo, here’s a link to Recas for more info,” Sigler said. “It keeps it out there all the time. We can then take that list and share it out with local champions, and reps can access that too.”

#TipTuesdays: Advanced Search

Sometimes you’re looking for a very specific image on Creative Outlet, and the general search bar just doesn’t cut it. You don’t want to sift through countless images to get to the exact one you want. That’s where the advanced search comes in handy!

#26 Advanced Search

Red White and Blue Balloons with Confetti

The advanced search option is available on the left of the top menu bar. From there, you can search for particular products, styles, media types, resolutions, and color ranges. This is useful in specifying the type of image you need. You may be looking for a colored balloon photograph, and can then specify all of those characters in the search.

You can also choose to omit certain words from the search. For example, if you want a balloon photo, but don’t want the photo to be birthday-themed, you can add the word “balloon” to the “Use these” box, and the word “birthday” to the “Don’t use these” text box.

With the advanced search option, you can get the exact image you need!

If you have any questions on searching or the Creative Outlet website, feel free to contact a sales representative at support@creativeoutlet.com for help.
